PHP Schmiede Shorts Publisher

Internal application for publishing our own video content.

The PHP Schmiede Shorts Publisher is an internal automation tool of PHP Schmiede KG. It supports us in publishing short, self-produced videos on our own YouTube channel.

The application is not publicly accessible, is not passed on to third parties and is not sold as a product. It is operated exclusively by employees of PHP Schmiede KG.

How it works

  • An employee writes the script for a video and reviews it editorially.
  • After manual approval, the video file is generated.
  • The finished file is uploaded via the videos.insert endpoint of the YouTube Data API. Title, description, tags and the scheduled publication time are set in the process.
  • The videos are labelled in accordance with YouTube’s requirements, including with regard to synthetically generated content and whether they are aimed at children.

Nothing is published without prior approval by a person.

Data access

The API client accesses only our own YouTube account. It does not process data of other YouTube users, does not retrieve other channels and does not display any YouTube data outside our internal system. The process described here uses videos.insert to upload and videos.list to check the status of our own uploads. OAuth authorisation is granted once by the channel owner and can be revoked at any time via the Google account settings: https://myaccount.google.com/permissions
