Implemented application
Capturing item data where it is needed
For a retail process, items were to be captured with a handheld scanner and assigned to the correct warehouse.
The task
In day-to-day store operations, items are counted, reordered and relabelled. The data required for this was in the database, but was not available at the shelf. The aim was to find a way to capture it where the work takes place.
The implementation
After scanning an EAN, the application loads the matching item data from the database. Ordering, counting and relabelling all run through the same interface.
Implemented functions
- Ordering and price lookup
- Promotional prices
- Shelf labelling
- Stocktaking
- Warehouse reference for every booking
Business focus
Correct assignment to the warehouse is part of the process and not a correction made afterwards. Data capture and further processing were considered together.
